Support for Young Carers

Young carers

A young carer is someone 18 years-old or younger, who looks after a relative who has:

  • a disability
  • an illness
  • a mental health condition
  • an alcohol problem
  • a drug problem

Young carers often take on an adult’s role by giving practical and emotional support to the people they care for.

Young carers aged 5 – 18

The Medway Young Carer project aims to support young people aged 5 to 18 who are in a caring role by offering them support and the opportunity to have a break from their caring role and meet others who are in a similar situation. Click Here for further information.
